About the YCMOU B.A. MCJ (G15) Program

The B.A. in Mass Communication and Journalism (G15) is a three-year undergraduate program offered through YCMOU’s open and distance learning (ODL) mode, recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It equips students with skills in journalism, media production, digital communication, and public relations, preparing them for careers in media, advertising, and content creation.

Key Program Details

Duration: 3 years (6 semesters: First Year – Semesters 1 and 2; Second Year – Semesters 3 and 4; Third Year – Semesters 5 and 6).
Eligibility:
- Passed 10+2 (HSC) or equivalent from a recognized board.
- Completion of a government-recognized diploma program (minimum 2 years) after 10th standard (SSC) (Page 9).
- Passed YCMOU’s Preparatory Program or equivalent from another recognized open university.
Assessment:
- Continuous Assessment (CA): 30% (assignments or quizzes).
- End Examination (EE): 70% (face-to-face exams).
- Minimum 40% marks required to pass each course.

Admission Process: Fully online via YCMOU’s admission portal. Candidates must click ‘ACCEPT’ to agree to terms during registration (Page 31).
Academic Bank of Credits (ABC): Mandatory creation of an ABC-ID at www.abc.gov.in for credit transfer (Page 26).
Program Continuity: If fewer than 20 students enroll statewide, YCMOU may suspend the program, refunding all fees (Page 28).
